CONTRAST IN PRISON TERMS IN TWO RAPE/INCEST CASES

Father jailed for more than 1,500 years for raping teenage daughter

Sentence believed to be the longest in Fresno history

As reported on October 23, 2016 in the Fresno Bee, the father in this case in Fresno, California was sentenced to 1,503 years in prison for raping his teenage daughter over a four-year period.
The 41-year-old was sentenced on Friday to the longest-known prison sentence in Fresno Superior Court history, the Fresno Bee reported. In trial, the father blamed the daughter for his actions. As is typical, the daughter was too afraid to report it when she was younger, and finally broke loose from his clutches.
WHY COURTS NEED TO RECOGNIZE THE HORROR OF INCEST/RAPE CASES - Sentences like the following should never happen.
The sentencing is in stark contrast to a recent case in Montana, where a man who raped his 12-year-old daughter was not sent to prison.
Instead the judge handed down a 30-year suspended sentence after the man pleaded guilty to incest and ordered him to spend 60 days in jail, giving him credit for 17 days already served.
